Remember Zander and Emily from GH? Yeah, I don't really remember much about them either. Despite that, when I was searching for a photo of Chad Brannon, I found this video of he and Natalia Livingston reuniting for her final episode (she was then playing Rebecca, he was playing Aaron).
OMG! OMG! Why is he so dreamy and awesome?
And. . . I would totally accept, under a new writing team of course, if Zander AND/OR Aaron returned to Port Charles. Hell, it would even be okay to bring Rebecca with him. So freaking cute!
Taking a Page . . .
So I thought it might be fun to take a page from Julie James' book and cast my series. I am working on an X# book series with ten main characters. Originally, I had closer to twenty main people, but I cut a bunch this morning. There really is no need to tack on dead weight, yes?
So without further ado, here is the cast as I currently see it (and, come on people, you know I used soap stars!):

Why is she so cute?
As a Patch/Kayla fan - - - she makes a cute daughter! I am going to miss her.

I just want to preface this post by saying that I would never want anyone to be out of work. The thought of someone losing their job makes me sad.
Despite my misgivings, I was thinking about what out of work soap actors could join soaps in already established characters. I picked seven extremely recent actors who no longer work on soaps. Here is their casting.
The person who got me thinking this was . . .
. . . Dahlia Salem. I think she would make an amazing Greenlee Smythe. The actress has the look and is extremely charismatic. Plus, she has the acting chops to pull off the drama in Greenlee's life - - - could she handle the laughter? I would LOVE to see her in that role. Actually, I would just love to see her back on soaps.
But there is also . . .
. . . Megan Ward. Okay, admittedly this one is kind of a stretch. I was thinking that Megan would make a great Kelly Cramer. I think she has the range and the look. She is great with the drama, but also has comedic timing. She has chemistry with everyone - from Maurice Bernard to Blake Gibbons. To me, Megan is fiya.
What about . . .
. . . Melissa Claire Egan? She would be a great Siobhan McKenna - assuming she would be allowed to drop the accent. I often hate the character of Siobhan (actually, I have only liked her once, ever), but maybe Missy could bring an energy to it that I have yet seen. I would also like to see her act against another Lucky. Also, if Missy were Siobhan, I might believe that there was more competition against Liz for Lucky's eventual affections.
And then there is . . .
. . . Kyle Lowder. He is another tough one. I have actually heard someone refer to the fact that Kyle was part of Daytime's Final Supercouple. Um, what? No. I did not see Kyle as Rick on B&B, but I remember him as Brady on DAYS. I don't know where I could picture Kyle after B&B. Maybe on AMC? There are a lot of women in their late 20's to early 30's over there who could use a leading man. The only character I could actually see him stepping into would be Daniel Jonas on DAYS. That would be really weird, but to me it is the only thing that works. Plus, last month we learned that DAYS isn't all that picky about actors playing characters that they already have established fan bases with. Hmm . . .
Not to mention . . .
. . . Jay Kenneth Johnson. The immediate thought for me was that he should play Daniel Romalotti on Y&R, but after some thought I decided that I want them to de-age Steve Webber on GH. I think that Jay would make a great sibling to Rebecca Herbst and bring some energy to the role of GH's chief of staff. I really think that would make a great recast!
Plus. . .
. . . Shelley Hennig. I really never give this girl credit for being as pretty as she is, but that will change. She is getting her own post soon. This girl is so freaking cute. Anyway, who should she play? Okay, I kind of have two roles for her. I have been hearing rumblings around the web about Starr Manning getting a recast (hello?!? what is with that?!?). Anyway, if she did I would imagine that they would age her. Perhaps they could age Dani Manning as well. I think that Shelley would make a cute Dani. Additionally, she would also make a good Brooklyn Ashton. That is another unnecessary at this time GH character, but she is on the canvas, so maybe. . .
And finally . . .
. . . Brittany Underwood. I have met Brittany in real life and she is a doll. I just really want to see this girl working again. Not sure if she will, because I got the impression that she wanted to stay in New York, but hey! You never know. I think she would make a good Stephanie Johnson on DAYS or Jana Hawkes on Y&R. Brittany still has the look of a teen, and OLTL has more teens on there scene than every other soap put together, so it is hard to find a place where Brittany would fit. The only other possibility would be Kristina Davis on GH. Actually, that could work . . .

Okay, So I am a Soap Opera Addict, Even in my Romance Novels
Today is all about reading. I have read a lot this week. I think I am going to go reach way into my back pocket and talk about JoAnn Ross. Ms. Ross is a great imagist. She puts together the perfect picture using an abundance of detail.
This week I went back and purchased her Callahan series. I had read all three book before, but I was grateful to add them to my collection. I was thinking about how different the books and the characters actually are, despite being about three brothers and sharing a setting.
River Road was my favorite. Shocking, right? Okay, maybe not. It was about an FBI agent and a soap star. I loved Julie and Finn. They were a great pair. Blue Bayou was a nice story too, though extremely rushed. Danielle and Jack were great - though her father never received his comeuppance in that story, and Holly was way too forgiving. In Magnolia Moon Nate and Regan were hard to read. I don't know why. I thought she was kind of worldly for him. I just don't see why they would love each other. I even have a hard time imagining them as friends. Hmm. . .
This week I also went back and read Leslie Kelly's Harlequin Blaze Play With Me. It was cute. I loved Amanda and Reese, but was there really a plot? The real reason I went back to read it was that I read a review for it and the plot they described was not ringing any bells with me. Well, the plot they described did happen, but I am not sure that that would be the way I would have described it at all. Also, the story was not funny. It was sexy, sure. Not funny.
On Tuesday morning I bought twenty-nine (!!!) books and my wallet is still feeling the repercussions. I will have to let you know how it all goes.
