Maybe it’s me.

I am reading Olivia Cunning’s Backstage Pass. One of the readers I follow on GoodReads gave it a great rating, so I thought I would check out reviews. The first review I read said that it was free earlier this week. I immediately checked out the price from my distributor, and it was still free (to celebrate the release of her second book). Anyway . . .
This book is ALL sex. I can’t even think of a single moment that was not about having sex – and it is not just between the hero and heroine. It is just a little much for me.
That being said, it was a mass market book for average price originally. I really was not expecting this.
GoodReads readers rated this book really high.
I am sorry . . . but to me this does not compare to authors like Pamela Clare or Julie James. That being said, I have no finished and I will continuing reading it.

Marching to the Beat of Your Own Drum

This week I purchased a bunch of ebooks. I received a new ereader for my birthday earlier this year, and just got around to opening it. Anyway, to celebrate I bought eight new books.

. . . You know what I freaking hate?!? When Amazon.com reviewers and I do not see eye-to-eye. I am reading something that for the most part the reviewers recommended and, frankly, it is terrible. Like, seriously, I am no wondering how this author got published. Worst part? I bought four of her books. And I paid for each of them individually. They are not in a bundle. Ugh.

Speaking of bundles, in August of 2010, why did the Harlequin Blaze line stop producing them? Does anyone know? Really, I could use some help on this one. Thanks.

So, I was working on my writing this week. I was wondering, do people who read enjoy reading series of books? I do, but I don’t really know anyone else who does.

My story is clearly setting itself up to be a series.

If you do like reading series, what are some of your favorites?
I have two major favorites. One of them is, without a doubt, the I-Team series by Pamela Clare. I also love the first three books of the Holy Terrors series by Geralyn Dawson (please see below). I also like the Buchanon family restaurateurs by Susan Mallery, the Bodyguard series by Cindy Gerard and the Bellagio Shoes series by Leanne Banks.

One thing that irks me is when the stories in a series do not flow. In my opinion, the Holy Terrors series is the best example of this. The fourth book of the series, which I have not yet read, was so drastically different than the first three that the author felt she needed to CHANGE HER OWN NAME so that people would not walk into the novel expecting one thing and getting something completely different. I guess I commend her for that. My biggest gripe is that she did not just leave the third book in the series opened for a fourth – she practically wrote the intro to it. Why did she have to publish those last few pages? Why did she tease us with that?

PS: Her new name is Emily March, if you still want to read her work.
Love, Adrienne

It Was SIX DEGREES OUT Today

This week I have not been concentrating on my writing. Boo. . .

I have been reading and applying for jobs! And I found one job that I really, really, REALLY want.

There are also some books coming out that I want as well. I mean, I am so looking forward to these. I thought I would share.
